Student Council Association (SCA)
The SCA is made up of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who work to make Walton and our community a better place. A representative from each class is chosen by the classroom members and teacher. The students meet as needed to plan activities and help with events. There are many different activities throughout the year that the SCA participates in including community food drives, school spirit days, teacher appreciation activities and more.
Smencils are sold throughout the year to help support SCA Activities! They are sold every Friday morning for $1.00 in room F3.
Walton has several leadership opportunities to help build exceptional and responsible students. One of those opportunities is the Safety Patrol. Rising 5th graders can apply in the spring to be a Safety Patrol member in the upcoming school year. Students must fill out an application and receive a teacher recommendation based on the areas of leadership, maturity, reliability, punctuality, attendance, courtesy, respect, and desire to help others.
As 5th grade patrol members, students are given a post to monitor daily during arrival and dismissal of school. Patrol members help to keep all students safe on their way to and from the bus. This program helps to instill confidence and leadership in our 5th grade students and continues to help with our school wide mission of building positive relationships.
The Eagle choir consists of fourth and fifth grade students. They will perform a Winter program and also again in Spring at the Fine Arts festival. Students meet twice a week in the mornings from 9:00 - 9:30 to practice for these events.
Good News Club
The Good News Club meets Friday mornings beginning at 7:30 in the gym. It is a free, exciting, fun-filled hour once a week that students can attend if they'd like. Students learn about respect for authority, character qualities, moral values, and biblical principals. Specially trained and screened individuals work with the students. The Good News Club is sponsored by Unity Baptist along with the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Greater Richmond. Be on the lookout for sign-up information!
